Stephanie Scupham

Steph Scupham is the Kansas City Film Commissioner. She graduated from the University of Kansas in 1999 and upon graduation started out as a freelance camera assistant and PA. In her 18-year career Steph gained experience in roles as a television content creator, commercial and corporate producer and director, workshop facilitator, audio mixer for live sporting events, editor, talent agent, project and account manager. Steph has worked for advertising agencies, production companies, and TV stations as well as her own companies.

She is passionate about spreading a positive vision of a thriving Kansas City production industry and advocating for the vision's reality. She loves supporting and promoting the Midwest production industry. She currently serves as a board member of Missouri Motion Media Association and the Kansas City Arts Industry Sector Council. She’s been involved as a board member in Kansas City Film Festival, was a participant in the AHEAD program at KC’s Central Exchange, and for four years was a regional Emmy judge.

Since establishing the KC Film Office after a 10-year absence (re-opened October 2014), she has given assistance to hundreds of film, TV and commercial productions – including NBC’s “American Ninja Warrior” (twice since she started in this role), Discovery Life’s “New Girls on the Block” and the Cannes award-winning film “American Honey.” Steph organized the first Script to Screen show and tell at Maker Faire KC, sponsored the first ever bi-city film competition - KC vs Chattanooga “Capture – A Filmmaking Project,” and represents KC at annual events and festivals like AFCI Locations Tradeshow, Sundance Film Festival and annual industry meet-ups in Los Angeles and New York.

She collaborated with the City to architect Kansas City’s first ever local film incentive and Kansas City was the first city in America to create a local incentive without also having a state incentive. She has a husband, Sam, a beautiful bonus kid, Cassie, and two funny dogs, Dango and Tater.
