OVERLAND PARK, KS, March 2, 2018: In 1882, a group of prominent local businessmen and professionals organized a private club in downtown Kansas City known as the Kansas City Club. The Club quickly grew into a pillar of Kansas City society with quality relationships serving as the core of its foundation. Notable members over the years have included Presidents Harry Truman and Dwight D. Eisenhower, General Omar Bradley, and Ewing Kauffman.
At the height of its prominence the Kansas City Club had over 2,100 members led by an icon in the club industry, General Manager, Stephen Joyce. Mr. Joyce was responsible for developing the reciprocal membership privileges network of hundreds of private clubs throughout the United States, including the prestigious Union Club and University Club in New York.
The ACA Business Club of Kansas City is celebrating the Grand Opening of its new location in Overland Park on Thursday, April 5, 2018. The event is open to the community and will feature live music, drawings, local celebrities and media, as well as complimentary appetizers and beverages. Former Board members from both the ACA and the Kansas City Club are planning to be on hand to celebrate.
“Similar to the Kansas City Club, members of the ACA Business Club of Kansas City must be sponsored into the club by a current member willing to place their reputation on the line and are then approved by the Board of Directors. This creates a dynamic culture where all members can be confident in referring and supporting each other,” according to Club President, Reg Pincombe.
“While the Kansas City Club provided a great venue during its heyday, times have changed, and the three-hour martini lunches don’t take place like they used to,” said Pincombe. “Today, our society is more fast-paced, and technology has taken over the business world. That’s why the Business Club of Kansas City has combined traditional old-school relationships with social media and technology to create a private club for the 21st century. The Club is in the middle of the suburbs where members can easily and conveniently meet clients and colleagues over a cup of great coffee.”
The Business Club of Kansas City offers members a coffee shop, café, 24/7 access, high speed WiFi, as well as an event center, outdoor courtyard, boardroom, and even an in-house video production studio.
Beth Langdon, Director of Membership, stated, “There is a current wave of some great co-working spaces popping up across the country. The Business Club of Kansas City however, focuses on building high-quality relationships and providing business development tools and strategies for its members. The work space is an additional value-added benefit for Club members. Many of our members have adopted the Club as their professional home.”
The Business Club of Kansas City is located at 6840 W. 105th St. in Overland Park on the east side of the Metcalf 103 Shopping Center. To register, please visit: www.acanetwork.org/grandopening. Or, call 1.800.793.CLUB (2582).
